Frequently Asked Questions

Do all sectors in Thailand share the same holidays?

Mostly, but not entirely. Government offices skip National Labour Day (1 May) but observe the Royal Ploughing Ceremony (11 May) and Buddhist Lent Day (30 July); banks follow the Bank of Thailand list, which is the reverse. Banks in the five southern border provinces additionally observe Islamic holidays and Chinese New Year.

Which Thai holidays are substituted in 2026?

Two: Visakha Bucha Day falls on Sunday 31 May and is substituted on Monday 1 June, and King Bhumibol's Birthday falls on Saturday 5 December and is substituted on Monday 7 December. The Cabinet also declared Friday 2 January a special holiday, creating a four-day New Year break (1–4 January).
