Why was the UAE Hijri New Year holiday on a Monday?

Under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, any public holiday except Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha may be transferred to the beginning or end of the week. 1 Muharram 1448 actually fell midweek, but the holiday was observed on Monday 15 June 2026 to create a three-day weekend.

Did the public and private sectors get the same Eid Al Adha break in 2026?

Almost. Both sectors had Arafat Day through Eid Al Adha off (26–29 May). The federal public sector was additionally granted Monday 25 May, stretching its break to nine days including weekends; that extra public-sector day is not shown in this calendar.
